48th Annual Cultural Fest at Miller Park
BLOOMINGTON, IL – The 48th Annual Cultural Fest returns to Miller Park in Bloomington on Saturday, August 22, from noon to 6:00 p.m. The free community festival will bring together music, dance, food, community organizations and family activities for an afternoon celebrating the cultural diversity of Bloomington-Normal.
With the theme “A Celebration of Diversity,” Cultural Fest features a full afternoon of entertainment representing a variety of cultures, ages and performance styles. This year’s stage lineup includes the Mt. Pisgah Sun Beam Choir, Jump 4 Joy Squad, Saphire Indian Dance, Galaxy Diamonds, Kamokunani Hula Halau Polynesian Dance, Miles Ahead, USA Ballet Youth Ensemble, salsa and line dance demonstrations, Clifton(e), vocalist Tatiana Masi and Four On The Floor.
“Cultural Fest is designed to give people an opportunity to experience something they may not normally see or hear,” said Tony Jones, volunteer coordinator of Cultural Fest. “You may come because you enjoy a particular style of music or performance, but while you’re here, you get exposed to other cultures, traditions and forms of entertainment. That’s really what Cultural Fest is about—bringing people together and celebrating what makes our community diverse.”
In addition to the main-stage entertainment, Cultural Fest will feature local vendors, community organizations, food trucks and a Kids Zone from noon to 4:00 p.m.
Cultural Fest has been a Bloomington-Normal tradition since 1979 and continues its mission of bringing people together through arts, culture, entertainment and community.
Cultural Fest is made possible with support from the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation, First State Bank and Trust of Bloomington, Watershed Foods, the City of Bloomington, and the Bloomington Human Relations Commission.
