Springfield, IL – It is with mixed emotions that the Springfield Oyster and Beer Festival (SOB) Committee announces that the annual festival will not take place in 2025. After 14 years of unforgettable memories, camaraderie, and charity, we have made the difficult decision to retire this beloved event. Rising costs, increased oversight regulations, and limited time to dedicate to the organization of the festival have contributed to this decision.
Since its inception, the Springfield Oyster and Beer Festival has been a cornerstone of our craft beer community, uniting residents and visitors to celebrate great beer, delicious oysters, and good company—all while supporting worthy causes. Over the years, the SOB has raised significant funds for local charities, making a meaningful difference in the lives of countless individuals.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has made the SOB a success. From the breweries and distributors who showcased their craft, to the volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, to the attendees who came year after year to share in the joy, and most importantly, to the charities whose missions inspire us all—thank you. This event would not have been possible without your unwavering support and enthusiasm.
The festival committee looks back on the past 14 years with immense pride and joy. The Springfield Oyster and Beer Festival wasn’t just about oysters and beer; it was about community, connection, and making a difference. Together, we shared laughter, music, and moments that will be cherished for years to come.
While 2025 will not see the continuation of the SOB, the spirit of this event lives on in the community it brought together and the causes it supported. We encourage everyone to keep that spirit alive by continuing to champion local charities, artisans, and businesses.
