Chicago June 9, 2026 – The Road Ahead Partnership and S&H Green Stamps have launched a new collaboration designed to strengthen small businesses and tourism along historic Route 66.
Through the initiative, eligible businesses along the Route 66 corridor will receive one year of free membership in the S&H Green Stamps Community Program, a modern digital loyalty platform rooted in one of America’s most iconic customer reward systems.
The program will connect local merchants with residents and travelers through a digital stamp-based rewards system that encourages repeat visitation, local spending, and community engagement. Customers earn digital stamps when shopping at participating businesses, which can be redeemed for rewards or donated to local community causes.
The S&H Green Stamps Community Program is a digital evolution of the historic “green stamps” loyalty system that once defined American retail culture. Today, the platform enables local businesses to:
· Award digital stamps based on customer spending
· Drive repeat visitation through redeemable rewards
· Support local nonprofits and community initiatives
· Participate in regional tourism and promotional campaigns
As part of the Route 66 initiative, the program will be deployed across participating communities to help unify marketing efforts and increase visibility for independent businesses along the historic highway.
A key feature of the partnership is its commitment to long-term regional impact. For every new Route 66 business that joins the program, the S&H Greens stamps will donate to Road Ahead Partnership’s Route 66 Preservation and Economic Development Grant Program.
Bill Thomas, Chair of the Route 66 Road Ahead Partnership, emphasized the significance of the collaboration: “Route 66 has always been about the communities that line its path. This partnership with S&H Green Stamps brings a powerful modern tool to the table—one that helps small businesses attract customers, build loyalty, and benefit from increased tourism,” said Bill.
“By connecting visitors and residents through a shared rewards system, we’re strengthening the economic engine of Route 66 while also creating new funding streams to preserve its history for future generations.”
The S&H Green Stamps Community Program is designed to connect merchants, residents, and nonprofits through everyday spending. Customers earn digital stamps at participating businesses, which can be:
· Redeemed for gift cards and local merchant rewards
· Used for promotional offers at participating businesses
· Donated to local charities and community organizations
This dual-purpose model ensures that consumer activity not only supports small businesses but also contributes directly to community improvement initiatives.
“Businesses up and down Route 66 gave out S&H Green Stamps in the ’50s and ’60s. We’re proud to bring that loyalty back to the Mother Road and with it, real value for the people, small businesses, and local causes that make these communities what they are,” said Carl Norloff, CEO of S&H Interactive.
The program has already been used in regional pilot efforts, including engagement initiatives tied to Route 66 Centennial celebrations, helping local attractions and merchants increase visibility and customer participation through digital rewards.
