SPRINGFIELD, IL – October 24, 2025 – The Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway today announced the creation of a special, limited-edition 13-coin collector set to celebrate the upcoming 100th anniversary of Route 66 in 2026. This unique set will highlight the most cherished and iconic stops along the Illinois portion of the Mother Road.
The commemorative set will feature 12 distinct coins, each showcasing a popular attraction or landmark. A 13th bonus coin will honor the Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway itself.
Due to the collector nature of this item, production will be strictly limited to only 300 sets. To guarantee authenticity and exclusivity, each coin within the set will be individually lasered with the set’s number, and every set will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Availability and Pre-Order Information
The Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway will release pricing and begin taking pre-orders on November 1st. The limited sets will be sold exclusively through the Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway. A custom-made display stand, designed to showcase the full 13-coin collection, will also be available for individual purchase.
