Pollinator Week Project Wingspan Volunteer Certification – Virtual Event
June 19 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Pollinator Week is June 17-23! Project Wingspan Illinois has a call to action to help pollinators. You can make a big difference! Here’s the info:
Volunteer to scout native wildflowers and collect native wildflower seeds at a local prairie with Project Wingspan. Illinois has over 30 native wildflower seed collection teams throughout the state. These teams collect from a list of 32 native wildflower species. The seeds are then cleaned at Prairie Moon and distributed to local Illinois pollinator habitat projects. You can become a certified volunteer on your own by visiting https://www.pollinator.org/wingspan/seed-collection or by attending the virtual training and certification event next week. No registration needed, just enter the zoom room on Wednesday night at 6:30 pm, June 19th. Here is the zoom information, below.
If you would like more information about any Pollinator Week items or activities, you can email Eleanor Schumacher, Illinois State Coordinator for Project Wingspan at es@pollinator.org

Blooming now: Ohio Spiderwort, Eastern Purple Coneflower, Common and Butterfly Milkweed, Black Eyed-Susan and many others starting soon!
2) It’s easy to grow native plants! No fancy greenhouses needed – you can germinate seeds in flats or containers right outside.
