Springfield Area Arts Council & ALPLM Annual First Night Springfield Events

The Springfield Area Arts Council (SAAC) celebrates its annual First Night Springfield on New Year’s Eve in downtown Springfield. This family-friendly, celebration of the arts features talented local and regional artists & performers across multiple stages at multiple venues. There is a free admission children’s stage and activity area from 1 pm-4 pm. All other performances take place from 6 pm – 10:30 pm.
Final Holiday Walk Night… First Night Springfield… and a Preview of All Creatures Great & Small… It’s all Happening at the ALPLM!

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum will join the fun of “A Timeless Holiday” during this year’s downtown Springfield Holiday Walks with our final Winter Night at the Museum on Saturday, December 20. You’ll enjoy ballet performances of “The Nutcracker” and crafts for kids, along with the regular museum exhibits — including our newest exhibit “Lincoln: A Life and Legacy that Defined a Nation” — with free admission* during our special extended hours from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

Get ready for an unforgettable New Year’s Eve as First Night Springfield lights up downtown with dazzling fireworks, captivating performances, and nonstop fun for all ages! We’re ringing in the New Year with style by kicking off the Route 66 Centennial Anniversary.
Join us New Year’s Eve afternoon from Noon-5:00 p.m. in the museum plaza for family-friendly entertainment, crafts, games, and activities.
