Community invited to celebrate the rebuilding and reopening of one of Springfield’s much-loved Route 66 landmarks!
Springfield IL, November 4, 2026 – After nine months of determination, hard work and tremendous community support, The Curve Inn is celebrating a remarkable new chapter with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, November 6, at 5:00 p.m.
The celebration marks an important milestone for the much-loved Springfield establishment, which was devastated by a fire in February. What followed was an enormous undertaking, requiring the business to rebuild and restore the property, bringing the iconic gathering place back to life.
For owners Ami and Ray Merchant, the journey has been about much more than rebuilding a building. It has been about preserving a place that holds a special place in the hearts of generations of customers, employees, musicians and the wider community.
The Curve Inn has been part of Springfield’s story for decades and is a familiar stop along historic Route 66. Known for its welcoming atmosphere, live music and loyal following, it has long been a place where friends gather, memories are made and the community comes together.
The rebuilding effort has also been a testament to the strength of the local community. From fundraising events and support from neighboring businesses to musicians, patrons and friends rallying behind the establishment, the outpouring of goodwill has played an important role in helping The Curve Inn make its comeback.
The ribbon cutting will also be an opportunity to recognize the importance of supporting local businesses and preserving the independent establishments that contribute so much to the character and identity of the Southern View and greater Springfield community.
