Chicago — May 22, 2026  “100 Miles of Kindness: A Route 66 Adventure,” an uplifting storytelling project celebrating the people and communities along historic U.S. Route 66, has been recognized as an Official Route 66 Centennial Project. Created by One Good Thing founder Janine Mix, the project will commemorate the highway’s 100th anniversary by traveling from Chicago to Santa Monica and performing meaningful acts of kindness every 100 miles along the route.

Filming will take place over 12 days, from June 19 to June 30, and will capture 25 acts of kindness benefiting residents, small businesses, travelers, and community heroes along the “Mother Road,” including Chicago. These moments will be shared through a mini-series on YouTube and social media, with videos planned for release in late summer.

From helping families in need to surprising everyday heroes, each stop will highlight the human connections that define Route 66, while inspiring kindness in communities everywhere.

“By celebrating acts of kindness in towns across the country, this project brings the centennial to life and reminds us why Route 66 remains such an important part of America’s cultural heritage,” said Bill Thomas, Chair of the Route 66 Road Ahead Partnership and Commissioner for the Route 66 Centennial Commission.

“I’m thrilled to mark 100 years of Route 66 by spotlighting the people who make this road more than just a destination,” said Janine. “Celebrating through acts of kindness every 100 miles is our way of giving back to its rich history, and we’re excited to capture the journey in a fun and entertaining way.”
