Springfield, IL – Obed & Isaac’s Microbrewery & Eatery is proud to announce the upcoming release of Appalachia Strong IPA, a special-edition beer crafted to support the relief efforts following the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina. The beer will officially launch on October 25, 2024, with a portion of proceeds going directly toward the recovery efforts as part of the North Carolina Craft Brewers Guild’s “Pouring for Neighbors” initiative.
Hurricane Helene left a trail of destruction across Western North Carolina, affecting families, businesses, and communities throughout the region. For Obed & Isaac’s, this disaster hits close to home. Many friends and family members have been impacted by the storm, making this cause particularly personal. Through the “Pouring for Neighbors” initiative, Obed & Isaac’s aims to rally the Central Illinois community to contribute to the rebuilding efforts.
“For us, community isn’t just a word; it’s a commitment,” said Karen Conn, owner of Obed & Isaac’s. “We’re honored to do our part to help our friends and neighbors in North Carolina recover from this disaster. This is more than just a fundraising effort; it’s a way to show our solidarity and let them know they’re not alone in this fight.”
Starting October 25th, $1 from every pint of Appalachia Strong IPA sold will be donated to Western North Carolina Relief. The Conn Family will match each donation dollar-for-dollar, meaning that every pint poured will contribute $2 to the relief fund. The funds raised will support local organizations working on the ground to provide vital services, including shelter, food, and reconstruction efforts in the hardest-hit areas.
About Appalachia Strong IPA
Appalachia Strong IPA is an American-style India Pale Ale brewed to embody the resilience and spirit of the Appalachian Mountains and the people. The beer features notes of pine and citrus, layered with hints of candy stone fruit, creating a refeshing and aromatic experience. The combination of these flavors evokes the rugged beauty of the mountains while offering a subtle sweetness that rounds out the bitterness typical of an IPA. Each sip of Appalachia Strong is a tribute to the spirit of the region and a toast to rebuilding and recovery. The brew will be available in draft at both Obed & Isaac’s locations.
“Pouring for Neighbors” Campaign
The “Pouring for Neighbors” campaign, spearheaded by the North Carolina Craft Brewers Guild, encourages breweries nationwide to come together in support of relief efforts. By tapping into the collective power of the craft beer community, the initiative aims to raise substantial funds for those affected by Hurricane Helene. All proceeds will go directly to local relief organizations working to meet the immediate needs of storm victims, such as food and water, cleaning supplies and other emergency supplies.
