Springfield, IL – August 1st, 2024 – Ron Metzger, owner of Route 66 Motorheads Bar & Grill, Museum & Entertainment Complex (600 Toronto Road, Springfield), has continually expanded “Motorheads” since it first opened in 2017. The historic foundation of the complex is an original Stuckey’s restaurant building which was a favorite stop on the Illinois Route 66 final alignment (1940-1977) on the south end of Springfield. Thanks to Ron, Motorheads is now a major Route 66 attraction, and on August 1st, he added a “Big Ron” giant to the mix.
Big Ron was built by the famed giant designer, Mark Cline. This new giant is situated underneath what Ron Metzger touts as the World’s Largest Route 66 Shield. The shield was built by Ace Sign Company in Springfield. The large giant and sign, as well as the entire complex are easily viewed from Interstate 55/Route 66 (Exit 90). Congratulations Ron!
