October 15, 2022, Litchfield, IL. It is Official! The Pastrovich family, owners of the Skyview Drive-In on Route 66, broke the Guinness record for most dogs at a drive-thru. On Saturday, October 15, 199 canines were officialy recorded in attendance (as many as 400 was the unofficial count) for the movie, “A Dog’s Way Home.” The record-setting event was part of Mobil 1’s “Keep Route 66 Kickin’” campaign.

“The Pastrovich family is thrilled and overwhelmed by all of the amazing support! There’s a reason they send certificates out to all of the participants. This record was broke because of the support shown by community. The dog community, the Drive-In community, the local community, the Springfield community as well as our friends in St. Louis, and of course the Route 66 Community!! We had people with puppies here from five different states at last count, and as far as 7 hours from here, one way! We are putting together a pretty cool permanent photo opp with the props from the muffler man, and one of the banners. Stay tuned to see what we do with it! We appreciate Mobil 1 and Hagerty and all the partners who made this happen! It can only benefit the 66 Community as we work with the Keep 66 Kickin initiative to bring travelers back to the Mother Road. It’s about living in the journey not just focusing on the destination!
While we are still for sale, we are looking to next season and making plans for not one, but two carnivals. One like this fall’s in the spring and a larger one in fall. We have interest for a very large car show on site next year as well. Yes! Planning for next season is already in full swing!!
Mike, Nick and Mindy will still be very active this winter. I hear some rumblings of movie reviews from Mike and Mindy, and you’ll still see us on social! We will continue to help support and build all of our communities.”
The previous record was 120 dogs. The Skyview opened in 1950, and is the last remaining original operating Route 66 drive-in in Illinois. It was inducted into the Illinois Route 66 Hall of Fame in 1998.
