The Village of Farmersville is bordered on the east by the 1940-1977 alignment of Route 66 and Interstate 55. Art's Motel & Restaurant was a popular fixture in the community for many years, and was frequently visited by Route 66 enthusiasts.

The Annual Irish Days Celebration is Farmersville’s Annual Town Celebration festival in Farmersville Park on the first weekend in June, and also the Small Town Dreamers Market at the park from May through October. The event is produced by the Irish Days Association in conjunction with the Village of Farmersville.
