House on Garling 2026 Open House
IT’S FINALLY HERE.
The House on Garling (1905 Garling Drive in Bloomington) is ready for visitors.
Join us January 17 + 18, from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm, for a chance to visit and explore the belly of the beast. Bring as many friends as you can for an unforgettable look inside a truly unique, one of a kind work of living art.
The documentary showcases the house’s transformation, the story, and the creative process of Tom Kirk, where creativity became a catalyst for individual healing, personal growth, and collective connection. The film places the house within a broader conversation about the importance of mental health, individuality, and the ways creative expression can reshape people, spaces, and the world we live in. The student-made documentary received an award for “Best Midwest Story” from the Big Picture Peoria Film Festival, a Crystal Pillar from the NATAS Chicago/Midwest Emmy Foundation, and 3rd place crowd favorite from the Foxtail Film Festival at Normal Theater last April. After much public anticipation the film will be released publicly via YouTube at 7pm on January 16th.
