
Springfield, IL August 5, 2025 – Former Sangamon County Board member, Catie Sheehan, of Springfield IL, has been named the new Deputy Director of the Illinois Office of Tourism. “IOT” is a division of the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity. Sheehan’s title is the top role at Illinois Office of Tourism (www.enjoyillinois.com).
The announcement was made public on Sheehan’s Facebook page: “As someone who’s enjoyed Illinois my whole life— from small towns, local gems and scenic routes to the vibrancy of Chicago and the rich legacy of Abe Lincoln— I’m thrilled to help promote everything our amazing state has to offer visitors and those of us looking for nearby weekend adventures,” posted Sheehan on August 5th, 2025.
Sheehan was serving as executive director of marketing and communications at the Southern Illinois University-System Office in Springfield. She also served as Former Executive Director of Marketing, Communications and Advocacy at HSHS Central Illinois Division Hospitals.
In 2019, she stepped down from her role as a Sangamon County Board member and vice-chair, R-District 28, because she is moved out of her district. She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from University of Missouri-Columbia.
