Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum Named America’s Top Small-Market Venue

SPRINGFIELD – The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum has been voted one of America’s best places to hold special events in the 2024 “Planner’s Choice” awards by Unique Venues, marking the sixth time the ALPLM has been honored by the magazine’s readers.

The ALPLM won the “Planner’s Choice for Small-Market Venue” category. Unique Venues said, “This iconic location offers a unique setting that blends history with modern amenities.” It also praised the ALPLM team, saying it “works closely with event planners to ensure everything runs smoothly.”

“This is a wonderful honor. We take great pride in providing extraordinary experiences for groups holding events here,” said Christina Shutt, the ALPLM’s executive director.

Unique Venues is a marketing organization dedicated to highlighting unique and non-traditional event venues beyond the usual suspects like hotels. It features colleges and universities, museums, art galleries, historic sites, stadiums and more. Award winners – which the magazine calls “the shining stars of our industry” – are chosen by readers and industry professionals.

“We are incredibly grateful to be recognized year after year by Unique Venues,” said Britta Brackney, manager of facility rentals at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. “It means we are succeeding at using this institution’s amazing resources to create truly memorable events for people, and it is a recognition of the dedication of our ALPLM colleagues that work together to plan and produce events with our clients.”

The ALPLM hosts events from corporate retreats and board meetings to awards banquets and wedding receptions. Meetings can be as small as six people or as large as 500. Daytime events can be help in the library building’s seven venues. Evening events can be held in the library or the museum building’s main plaza. A new event location is historic Union Station, a restored former passenger train station on the ALPLM campus which is a unique venue for receptions and small dinners as well as for daytime events.

With a log cabin on one side and the White House on the other, the museum’s main plaza offers not only stunning scenery but also space for large groups. The ALPLM also offers conference rooms and small meeting spaces equipped with technology to host in-person, hybrid or online conferences.
