2023 Elkhart Historical Society Wildflower Nature Walks
April 1 @ 10:00 am - April 29 @ 4:00 pm
The Elkhart Historical Society is delighted to announce its April events, starting with the much- anticipated Wildflower Nature Walks, each Saturday in April. (1st ,8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th). This includes a 10a or 2p walk each Saturday, weather permitting, by reservation only. It is exciting to see the progression of the various flowering species as spring casts off the winter drabs and comes alive again. The final day, April 29th, is a combination wildflower and bird event celebrating the returning birds as they migrate thru the flowering woodlands on Elkhart Hill.
The bloom time is short, and space is limited, so get your reservations in as soon as possible. Private tours can be arranged for groups of 10 or more on Wednesday-Friday. An optional lunch at Horsefeather’s Wild Hare Café can be added to the reservation. The cost of the walk is $15 per adult and $10 for children ages 8-12; and lunch is $10 for adults and $5 for children. All reservations must be made by calling 217.947.2238. You will receive a confirmation before sending your check. If too late for mailing, tickets can be picked up at the Country Bumpkin Shop on Gov. Oglesby Street in Elkhart. Reservation forms can be downloaded from the website www.elkharthistoricalsociety.org.
Additionally, a Sunrise Service will be offered at the Gillett Chapel on Elkhart Hill at 7a Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, with Dr. Robert Rea speaking. The service is approximately 45 minutes long and is open to those of all denominations at no cost. Masks are optional.
