Edwardsville West End Station Visitor Center Grand Opening

Come to Edwardsville and watch the Grand Opening ceremony for West End Station! This former Route 66 service station turned dental office is being retooled as an interpretive center about Route 66, which originally traversed Edwardsville and wound its way past the station.
The Grand Opening is on Friday, June 9th, from 9-10am. The newly restored historic Route 66 gas station is located at 620 St. Louis St. (West St. & St. Louis St.). Once it opens in June, the site will be open for visitors Fridays through Sundays. Informational panels will tell the Edwardsville Route 66 story.
The station opened in 1927 as a Texaco in an earlier building that was angled toward the intersection it looks over. In the 1930s, the building was replaced and became a Mobil station.
The City of Edwardsville and Great Rivers and Routes Convention & Visitors Bureau worked together to save the building and obtain grants for this project. More info at: www.riversandroutes.com/directory/west-end-service-station/
