Darien Garden Club Pollinator Week

Join us as we celebrate Pollinator Week – June 26th 9:30-12:30
Indian Prairie Public Library, 401 Plainfield Rd, Darien.
Celebrate and learn about pollinators and their importance to our wellbeing as well as the wellbeing of the planet.
Learn what you can do to help pollinators by planting and nurturing their habitat.
Three experts will be on hand to feature some of their favorites: Monarch Butterflies, Honey Bees and Hummingbirds.
Naturalist, Kim White will have live monarch life stage examples and answer all your questions about their life cycle
and habitat preference.
Bee Keeper, Lori Harris will have live honey bees displayed safely for all to see their complex social system.
Local Birder, Bob Fisher will explain the role of hummingbirds in pollination and help you attract these flying jewels to
Learn about the Illinois Monarch Project and its plan to put 150 million milkweed stems in the ground in IL to help save
the struggling monarch population. Learn how you can pledge to help monarchs and about the effort to put habitat up
and down the I-55 corridor adding to the Route 66 Flyway.
Tour and learn more about the Indian Prairie Public Library District's Prairie Patch and Monarch Waystation located on
the grounds of the library.
Visit with Darien Garden Club members who can help you get started with ideas for your very own pollinator garden
and walk away with your own milkweed starter package to start your own pollinator garden.
Take and Make bags available with pollinator information and activities for the youth in attendance.
This event is also a celebration of the long-term partnership of the Darien Garden Club and Indian Prairie Public Library.
