2022 First Night Springfield! “We are proud and excited to offer this event to our capital city again,” said Sheila Walk, Arts Council executive director.
December 31st marks the 35th year the Springfield Area Arts Council has hosted this local celebration of the arts, a family-friendly event enjoyed by tens of thousands since 1987.
Hoogland Center for the Arts – 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
These organizations will provide children’s craft activities free of charge:
Creative Reuse Marketplace
Illinois State Museum
Lincoln Memorial Gardens
Springfield Art Association
Boone’s – 5:30 P.M. – 7:30 P.M.
Stone Cold Band (Friday Night Jazz)
No cover charge.
First Presbyterian Church
6:00 P. M. – Watch Party, a locally-written play by Robert Davis to mark Watch Night, an African-American tradition
7:00 P.M. – organist and music historian Paula Romanaux
There is no charge for these performances, although donations will be accepted.
Hoogland Center for the Arts – 7:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M.

Sangamon Watercolor Society will exhibit members’ work in the gallery.
Arena Food Service will sell light refreshments.
Tickets are $5 for youth and $20 for adults. They may be purchased at the door or in advance by going to Hoogland’s website: www.hcfta.org.
Capitol Avenue and Fourth Street – 11:15 P.M.
People are invited to gather at the intersection of Capitol Avenue and Fourth Street for a free fireworks show, which will end in time to reach other destinations for the stroke of midnight.
