International Mother Road Festival Hilites a Season of Car Shows Along 66!
With over 1000 cars on display for 80,000 visitors, the 13th Annual International Mother Road Festival in Springfield was yet another stellar 66 event over the final weekend of September. The Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway had another full set of exhibitors at their travel expo as part of the event.

The ever-popular car hood was packed with signatures over the weekend, and this year, the car hood was donated to Obed & Isaac's Microbrewery. The expo welcomed the Missouri Route 66 Association this year, in addition to many communities and organizations. Popular features of the event included the City Nights Cruise for Crimestoppers, Horsepower Alley, Monet of Cars and Car Show Awards wrapping up the festivities on Sunday.

The Berwyn Route 66 Car Show, held the first weekend after Labor Day in September, brought in over 500 vehicles on display along Route 66 (Ogden Avenue). A "hot" feature this year was the automobile flamethrowing and numerous dragsters on display. The weather was great and large crowds were on-hand.

Sandwiched in between these two large signature car shows, was the Annual Cruise-In at The Mill in Lincoln on September 13. Though a much smaller show, the event feature a rarity this year - a photo opportunity with the famous Tropics Restaurant sign, which was on display courtesy of the City of Lincoln.
