These attraction fall under the category of “Other,” but that does not make them any less interesting – or less worthy of a visitor’s attention. Devotees and students of religion will enjoy a visit to Darien’s Nation Shrine of St. Therese and Castle Eden. Sitting on 50 acres of land, it is home to a beautiful statue of Therese that was damaged in a 1976 fire at St. Clara’s Church in Chicago. It has since been restored and her Therese’s lovely gaze comforts pilgrims in her restful Darien home. Another location that prompts deep contemplation is Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, operated by the Veterans Administration, in Ellwood. In 2005, then Senator Barrack Obama gave a speech on the grounds and spoke eloquently of the sacrifices made by those servicemen and women lying beneath the facility’s verdant grounds. Please take a moment and explore our “Other” options. There can be no doubt you’ll find more than a few other reasons to visit Illinois Route 66 soon!
